Help Arlington Kids Show Up with Confidence

Because every child deserves comfort, confidence, and dignity.

Every child deserves to walk into school feeling ready—ready to learn, to participate, and to be seen for who they are. But for families facing financial hardship, meeting the basic clothing needs of their growing children can be out of reach. And when clothes don’t fit, are worn out, or simply aren’t there, it affects how a child shows up each day.

The Clothesline for Arlington Kids provides free clothing to schoolchildren from low-income families through a dignified shopping experience. Eligible families can shop twice a year at no cost, selecting a full wardrobe at each visit. Kids get to pick out items that fit well and feel good for the season ahead. What they take home meets an immediate need—but the impact goes much further.

It gives children comfort in their day-to-day lives and a sense of dignity that every child should carry with them. It allows them to participate in school activities, fit in with their classmates, and focus on learning instead of standing out for the wrong reasons.

For parents, it helps relieve ongoing financial pressure—freeing up limited resources for other essentials and reducing the stress of difficult financial tradeoffs.

This spring and summer, we aim to serve 1,300 children, giving them the clothes they need to fully participate in school and community life.
